Learning Outcomes

An understanding of the process of managing an engineering design project.

Brief Description

To introduce aspects relevant to the management of an engineering design project, namely: Why all projects are design projects; Engineering design; Intellectual property; The business plan; The design process; Understanding the client's problem; Objectives and metrics; Functions and Specifications; Finding answers to the problem; Reporting the outcome; Managing the process; Design for manufacture, cost, reliability, quality and sustainability; Ethics in engineering.
