Benefits for Foundation Governors
Forward planning the needs of industry and the school
Foundation Governors are invited to nominate staff to participate in industry sector reference groups with the tasks of:
- (a) identifying industry's anticipated demands for graduates and research in their sector,
- (b) making recommendations to the School on actions the School might take to develop its resources to better satisfy industry's anticipated demands.
Our reference groups are: Computer & Software Engineering, Power Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering.
Monitoring the Relevance of The Curriculum
Foundation Governors are invited to nominate staff to participate in reviews of the School's five degrees giving them a say in the courses being taught and ensuring their relevance to industry's needs for graduates. The degrees are:
- BE Computer Engineering
- BE Electrical Engineering
- BE Power Engineering
- BE Software Engineering
- BE Telecommunications Engineering
Presenting Career Opportunities to the School
Foundation Governors are invited to nominate staff to participate in our Industry Answers Students' Questions Lunchtime Sessions to present career opportunities to the students. The cost of this facility to non-Governors is $1,000.
Meeting the Top Students
Foundation Governors and their staff are invited to see our top students in action by participating in the judging of the Foundation Prizes.
Reviewing the Students through their CV
Foundation Governors are invited to request the CVs of third and fourth year students seeking work experience places. This is an opportunity to review the students and contact those of interest to you. CVs are published in May and August.
Networking
Networking through our business meetings and social functions.

Invitation to the Graduation Dinner
Foundation Governors and their staff and partners are invited to the Electrical and Information Engineering Graduation Dinner in the magnificent MacLaurin Hall. Other Benefits for our Governors
- Foundation Governors and their Alternates for Meetings are entitled to a University of Sydney parking permit at no cost.
- Foundation Governors and their staff are entitled to lending rights at the University's Fisher and Engineering Libraries.
Subscription Rate
The subscription rate for Governors is $6,600 per year, income tax deductible.
And as a Governor you will be helping the University of Sydney to produce
the engineers that Australia needs.
