Setup Guide to Connect to School's Wireless Network
- You need to have a notebook with a wireless card or a PC card that support 802.11b or 802.11g.
- Disable Date Encryption(WEP) and leave Network Authentication Open.
- Set the Internet protocol TCP/IP to DHCP
- Select an Access Point you'd like to connect to, such as USYD-ENGINEERING.
- USYD-ENGINEERING coverage:
Building J03 - level 9, level 8, level 7, level 4 and Lecture Theater 351
Building J13 - level 4, part of level 3 and level 1 - Normally, you will be assigned an IP of the format 172.17.x.x or 172.19.x.x. and you can see all network setting.
- Download the VPN (Virtual Private Network) client from the university site either from your notebook, if you have the basic wireless connection, or from a computer connected to university network. Install the VPN client on your notebook.To use VPN, you need to enable your VPN and Web options from your Extro Account at https://www.auth.usyd.edu.au/extro/options.
