  • Projects for 2011

  • Clinical Information Systems. The development of information for use in clinical wards in hospitals is difficult because of the variety of data that has to be collected and the use of medical terminology. We are researching solutions to the software engineering problems this complex environments creates.
  • Natural Language Processing in clinical settings. Accurate and efficient analysis of language to recognise its semantic components is essential to developing the next generation of search engines. We are applying software engineering strategies to doing retrieval of semantic information from patient records in a hospital setting.
  • Machine learning is a powerful tool for analysing data when little is known about its structure in the fields of Text Mining and Data Mining. However the process of investigating the best models for a data set are poorly developed. We are doing software engineering research into the optimal development of workbenches to support large experiment programs text and data mining.
